Our Vision
Mount Hopeful Wind Farm is located 13 km southeast of Mount Morgan and is situated within the localities of Bajool and Ulogie. The site is located close to Rockhampton and Gladstone, which are both energy demand centres, giving the project access to a strong base of local subcontractors and established transportation corridors.
The site was chosen because the wind tends to blow strongly in the evening when the sun is no longer shining and when there is typically an increase in energy demand seen across the electricity network. It is therefore able to complement solar generation well.
The project is located next to a 275kV high voltage transmission line which ensures the energy can rapidly be exported into the grid.
We are working with Umwelt, who are undertaking seasonal ecology surveys over the project’s proposed footprint. The results from these surveys feed into the project’s design process and development application.
ENVIRONMENTAL BENEFITS
Below figures are based on a 400MW wind farm, but the actual capacity will depend upon the outcome of the various specialist studies that are carried out during the development phase of the project.
WHY WE NEED MOUNT HOPEFUL
Energy to power around 242,550 homes
No greenhouse gas emissions
